Spent our last Tuscany day in Umbria instead! Well worth it, when you consider that we went to the Perugina chocolate factory. All the free chocolate we could eat in situ - quite a bit, actually!Also fed the intellect with a visit to the National Gallery of Umbria (the usual Renaissance rogues gallery).
Spent the afternoon at Assissi, home to the famous St Francis - who talked to the animals. He is now entombed in a great cathedral, built on another cathedral, and decorated with frescoes by Giotto (though this is still a source of argument among art historians). Pizza for dinner.
