April showers

So far April has been one big raincloud, but we had a mostly sunny weekend, and hit the streets to make the most of it. Caught the Tube (a rarity for us now, thank goodness!) to Kensington so that Anna could do some posh shopping.

Took a stroll in Hyde Park...

Saw the Albert Memorial...

Albert Hall:
The Elfin Oak, carved in 1911 by Ivor Innes (and restored by Spike Milligan)...

Lancia Stratos parked outside the V&A:

We went and saw the Kylie exhibition at the V&A. A collection of all her costumes from music videos and peformances:

After the Kylie exhibition, Anna went back to Kensington with Jan, and I spent a couple of hours exploring the wonderful Victoria & Albert museum. I saw sculptures by Rodin, the Raphel cartoons for the Sistene Chapel tapestries, a full size plaster cast of Trajan's Column, a gallery of landscapes by Turner and Constable, plus enormous collections of glasswork, ironwork, clothing, statues and so on.

A lovely middle eastern tile from Iran, with a quote from the Koran. Unfortunately, some other Muslims decided it was offensive, and chipped the heads off the birds...

Had dinner and cocktails at a very odd little bar in Notting Hill.
